Workshops
Workshops can be given in person or online.
Online workshops are easier to book/schedule. To book, send an email to: Andy@KaolinTigerStudios.com
In person workshops should have a large screen or projector available that a laptop can be hooked up to so that videos and pictures can be displayed.
1 Day Workshop - Two 3 hour segments with a short break in between.
In the one day workshop, Andy will be showing how he controls crystalline glazes so that every firing is perfect, glaze catchers are not needed and he will share his general philosophy on glazing, glaze tests and glaze research.
The workshop will be split into two parts. In the first part, Andy will introduce 4 glazes and explain their recipes, firing schedule, application and other key details. Andy will not be holding any details back and while questions will be welcome, the presented information will be comprehensive and thorough enough for you to use these glazes right away.
The second part of the workshop will cover a bit more technical information and Andy’s approach to glaze tests and research. If you want to know how to refine a glaze recipe so that you really know what is going on and how to push it in a specific direction… Andy will be covering how he does this. There will be an emphasis on efficiency and some tools so that you can get more and better information from your glaze tests.
2 Day Workshop - Two 3 hour segments with a short break in between on each day.
The two day workshop covers everything from the one day workshop on the second day. The first day Andy will be covering how he shapes various forms from coffee mugs to teapots and some creative elements like how he carves the handles to look like wood. There will be an emphasis on his philosophy regarding efficiency in production, aesthetics of form, and utility.
A key option that the 2 day workshop presents is to have the students glaze a set of pieces at the beginning and have enough time to fire and unload them from a kiln by the end of the workshop. To ensure everything goes according to plan, Andy recommends charging an extra lab fee per person and he will arrive with 4 glazes and 2 bisque mugs per person that already have a white liner glaze and waxed foot. Students will obviously be able to take the 2 mugs they glazed home with them.

If you are too far away or feel that a workshop is too costly, I have one more option for you to learn! Check out my tutorial series on Vimeo. The information I have on Vimeo lags behind what I present at a workshop, but not by much. Everything that I know and have to teach will be in those Vimeo videos, it just takes a little longer for me to put them together. Vimeo operates on a subscription basis and is only $20 per month.
